Associate Technician

You must have very good computer skills and like to work in a challenging and ever changing construction environment. If you can work independently, have an eye for detail, are particular and thorough and have the ability to concentrate and focus for hours at a time, you may have the qualities required to be a first-rate technician.
Experience in the construction industry is an asset though not necessarily a requirement. A good driving record and a valid driver’s license are a must. Westcoast Scanning Ltd. will provide full training and send you for Certification in New Hampshire or Texas when ready.

 

On occasion you will be required to work evenings or nights and because we service all of BC there will be times when you will be required to work out of town for several days or weeks at a time. This position will start as part-time with the real potential of full-time employment with a full benefits package once you are Certified.

Technician

You must have at least 2 years of full-time field experience operating GPR scanning equipment equipped with a selection of antennas. Experience with GSSI manufactured systems is an asset though not mandatory. You will have proven in-depth knowledge of concrete scanning and structure scanning modules.

You can calibrate the control unit to make an accurate interpretation of slab thicknesses and target depths. You can estimate rebar diameter. You have a full understanding of the properties of concrete and what may be embedded. You can identify features such as rebar, P/T cables, pipes, cables, wire mesh, structural beams, anchors, PVC targets, voids and fractures, noise and interference.

You can quickly, efficiently and effectively scan at least 6 locations (2’ x 2’) by 12” thick per hour using 2D and 3D Structure Scan mode. You have a thorough knowledge of the construction of columns, pilasters, masonry walls, post-tensioned suspended slabs, pre-cast, waffle and t-bar slabs, voided slabs, slab on grade, roofs, beams, capitals, etc. You are familiar with EM technology and can accurately detect live power.

You are an expert at processing and analyzing GPR data with processing software. You can create, collect and stitch together any sized grid to create Super 3D. You can read drawings and create well written and laid-our reports.

 

You have experience in locating utilities with GPR and Radio Detection technologies. Drone and SeeSnake field experience, knowledge and experience are definite asset.

You have excellent communications skills and are comfortable dealing directly with site management. You are available to occasionally work overtime, evenings, nights and out of town. You have a good driving record and have a valid driver’s license.
